Dracula

When Count Dracula moved to a small neighborhood in Chicago, everyone noticed. He was a tall man with skin that was white as snow.

And he had sharp teeth.

Minnie owned a bakery down the street. She had black hair and was very pretty. People gossiped about Count Dracula in her bakery.

“He’s so strange,” said one woman.

“He can’t be that strange,” Minnie said. “We should welcome him.”

That evening, she went to see the Count. She had baked him cupcakes.

“I’ve brought you something to eat,” she said cheerily.

“Yes, you have,” Dracula said. He invited her into his new house.

The next day, Minnie felt quite sick. Sunlight made her skin burn. She couldn’t sleep at night and felt weak during the day. And no matter how much she ate, she was always hungry.

She went to see Doctor Van Helsing.
