Hercules and the Hound

Hercules was the son of Zeus. He was the strongest and bravest man in all of Greece. He could wrestle a lion with one hand tied behind his back.

Everyone loved Hercules.

On his birthday, the king asked Hercules for a gift. “I want the hound, Cerb, for a pet.”

The crowd gasped. Cerb was a giant,
three-headed creature. It lived in the Cave of No Return. No one had ever tamed it.

The mighty Hercules was not afraid.

He set off at once to find the beast.
