Jack Finds a Family

Jack was a jack-o’-lantern.

He had two round eyes. He had a triangle nose. His mouth looked like a half moon. One big tooth stuck out.

Jack sat on the top step of the porch.

Other jack-o’-lanterns were there too. Some were tall and skinny. Others were short and fat. Jack was the smallest.

“Hi!” said one of the jack-o’-lanterns. He looked old. His skin was yellow. “My name is John. This is my family.”

Jack was scared. He had never met another jack-o’-lantern.

“Where are you from?” John asked.

Jack thought. “I’m not sure,” he said.

John laughed. “I bet you are from the Reed Family Pumpkin Patch, like the rest of us.”
