Mr. Rabbit Finds a Wife

Mr. Rabbit was a very wealthy rabbit.

He had a warm den and a grand garden under the largest oak tree. But Mr. Rabbit was very lonely.

One day he had a wonderful idea. He would find a wife! Since Mr. Rabbit had never had a wife, he did not know how to get one.

First, he went to the store. He asked the clerk if he could buy a wife. “Sir,” asked Mr. Rabbit, “could you please sell me a wife?”

“I am sorry, Mr. Rabbit, but you cannot buy a wife,” replied the clerk.

Next, Mr. Rabbit went to the carpenter to see if the carpenter could build him a wife. “Sir,” asked Mr. Rabbit, “could you please build me a wife?”

“I am sorry, Mr. Rabbit, but I cannot build a wife,” replied the carpenter.
