The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Ichabod Crane came from a distant town to teach in Sleepy Hollow’s schoolhouse.

He was a strange looking man. But the parents of the town welcomed him.

The local children were not happy to have a new teacher.

One boy, Brom Bones, really did not like Ichabod.

Brom was known in the town for his pranks. He came up with a plan to get rid of Ichabod.

One day in late fall, Ichabod was invited to a party.

He borrowed an old horse from his landlord and happily made his way there.

Brom Bones would also be attending the party.

At first, the party was light-hearted and fun. But soon, talk turned to the spirit that haunted Sleepy Hollow.

“It is a headless rider on horseback,” a man told Ichabod. “We think it’s the ghost of a soldier.”
