The Magic Noodles

The boy awoke in darkness, before the first rays of morning light rose in the east.

“I don't want to climb today,” he begged. Sleep was heavy in his eyes.

“We're going to the peak, to eat at Ramen Mori,” his father said.

“Ramen Mori?” the boy said. Suddenly, he wasn’t tired anymore. “We're going to eat the magic noodles today?”

His father nodded. “Yes. Today is the day we climb Mount Fuji.”

The boy had heard about the magic noodles at Ramen Mori since he had been a baby. He had dreamed of the magical place his entire life.

In his dreams, he saw the golden noodles and could taste the warm, salty soup. As he ate the magic noodles, he became bigger and stronger.

The drive to Mount Fuji passed in darkness.

The base camp was crowded when they arrived. His father bought a few supplies: water, noodles, eggs, and fruit.
