The Wizard of Oz Part 2 The Emerald City

For many days, Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Lion followed the Yellow Brick Road.

At last, they saw the Emerald City in the distance.

“We made it!” shouted Tin Man.

The great Emerald City shined in the sunlight.

They ran to the city’s gate.

“Who goes there?” called the gatekeeper.

“We’re here to see the Wizard,” called Dorothy. “We need his help.”

The gatekeeper looked at the travelers. “You may enter,” he said.

They walked into the Emerald city. It was a sight beyond belief!

The streets were paved with green marble. Emeralds lined the sidewalk. Even the people were green!

Dorothy and her friends were led to two large, green doors.

Slowly, the doors opened. In the center of the room was a large emerald throne. Hovering above the throne was a huge green head. The head spoke.

“I am Oz, the great and terrible Wizard,” boomed the voice. “What do you want?”

“I want to get home to Kansas,” Dorothy said. “Scarecrow wants a brain. Tin Man needs a heart. And Lion wants courage. Can you help us?”

After a moment, the giant head said, “I will do as you ask, but only if you bring me the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West!”
